More recoveries and cases of COVID-19 in Quinte

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting that seven people have recovered from COVID-19 since their last update, Tuesday. Staff note that there are four new cases today, three of which has been listed as close contacts. That brings the total number of active cases to 19. Three people remain in hospital. Public Health has identified 277 cases since the start of the pandemic in March. Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit is also reporting a number of recoveries today in Northumberland County. Staff have identified one new case, which brings the total number of active cases in the county to 14.

HPEHP reporting eight new COVID-19 cases

Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting eight new cases of COVID-19 today. According to the dashboard, four of the cases are close contacts, while the cause of the other half is still pending. Four people have recovered since the last update on Monday. That brings the total number of active cases of the virus to 22. Three people remain in hospital. 11 cases are in Belleville 7 cases are in Quinte West 2 cases in Prince Edward County 2 cases in Tyendinaga and Deseronto region Public Health officials say that the outbreak associated with the Legion in Wellington remains ongoing. There have been a total of four cases linked to the facility.

Ontario moving to province-wide lockdown

Premier Doug Ford has announced that a province-wide lockdown will start Saturday. “We are asking all Ontarians to stay at home unless absolutely necessary for appointments, work, or groceries.” The restrictions will be in place for 28 days in southern Ontario, and 14 days in northern Ontario. He notes that despite restrictions, officials have seen a growing number of people travelling within Ontario. Ford added that for those in yellow and green zones, they would be at risk with those travelling in from other restricted areas. Students will have an extended holiday break. Schools will be welcoming students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 back in the classroom on January 11.
