Percent positivity rate at Haliburton County s COVID-19 assessment centre down this week

The percent positivity rate at Haliburton County’s COVID-19 Assessment Centre was 1.15-percent for the past week. Between January 25th and February 5th, 130 tests were done. “The number of tests completed was lower than anticipated, as the Assessment Centre availability was reduced for a few days due to unforeseen circumstances,” officials with the centre explained. The previous week’s test positivity rate was 3.5-percent with 169 tests done over the seven-day stretch. As of Friday morning, there have been 52 total cases of COVID-19 in Haliburton with two considered unresolved by the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit. “Over the past several weeks, our community has seen a significant rise in confirmed COVID- 19 cases locally, as well as increased numbers of high-risk contacts,” officials said. “The Health Unit, like all other public health units, is mandated to report based on the geographical boundaries within which it provides service, which mea

Staff note that six people have recovered since Wednesday’s update. The new case is travel related and in Quinte West. There are now a total of 6 active cases in the region, which is an all time low since the early days of the pandemic. 5 active cases in Quinte West 1 active case in Belleville A total of 483 vaccines have been administered in the region to date. The one outbreak at Crown Ridge Long Term Care Home in Trenton continues. One case has been identified so far.

HPE marks three days in a row with no new COVID-19 cases

Hastings and Prince Edward counties are marking a new record in the pandemic. Today marks the third straight day in a row that health officials have announced no new COVID-19 cases. Hastings Prince Edward Public Health is reporting a total of 11 active cases, as two people have recovered. The seven-day case rate per 100,000 people has dropped to 3.0. The outbreak at Crown Ridge Long Term Care Home in Trenton continues, as one case has been identified. The Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health until is not reporting any new cases in Northumberland County. There are a total of 18 active cases in the county.

Schools In Grey Bruce To Re-Open To In-Class Learning Next Week

Last Updated: Jan 20, 2021 7:09 PM School boards in Grey and Bruce counties have been given the green light by the Ontario government to resume in-person learning next week. Minister of Education Stephen Lecce issued a statement on Wednesday afternoon that said: “On the advice from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, the government is allowing seven public health units and over 100,000 students to return to class on Monday, January 25.” The Grey Bruce Health Unit is among the seven public health units where elementary and secondary schools will be permitted to resume in-person learning next Monday. Bluewater District School Board Director of Education Lori Wilder confirmed in a letter to parents/guardians that both elementary and secondary schools in the board will return to in-person learning next Monday.
