Deloitte, one of the Big Four accounting organisations, has developed a very innovative, simple, fit-for-purpose programme in the fight against Covid-19 that can be scaled up in a quick span of time, its CEO Punit Renjen said on Monday. We have designed, I believe, a very innovative, simple, fit-for-purpose programme that is integrated, Renjen told PTI, a day after the Sanjeevani Pariyojana (life of project) was kicked off in Karnal district of Haryana.
The programme, designed and supported by Deloitte, the Public Health Foundation of India and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Haryana, is a supervised, virtual home-care initiative to help people quickly access healthcare for mild to moderate symptoms of Covid-19.

When India’s second coronavirus wave slammed the country last month, leaving many cities without enough doctors, nurses, hospital beds or lifesaving oxygen to cope, Sajeev V.B. got the help he needed.
Local health workers quarantined Sajeev, a 52-year-old mechanic, at home and connected him with a doctor over the phone.
When he grew sicker, they mustered an ambulance that took him to a public hospital with an available bed. Oxygen was plentiful. He left 12 days later and was not billed for his treatment.
“I have no clue how the system works,” Sajeev said. “All that I did was to inform my local health worker when I tested positive. They took over everything from that point.”
The programme, designed and supported by Deloitte, the Public Health Foundation of India, and the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences in Haryana, is a critically important step in bringing much needed medical care to the people who need it most, when and where they need it most, Deloitte said in a statement.
