Telangana to give only second dose of Covid vaccine from May 8
The eligibility period for taking second dose is six weeks for Covishield and four weeks for Covaxin from the date of taking the first dose.

Hyderabad: In view of shortage of the Covid-19 vaccines, health authorities in Telangana on Friday decided to vaccinate only those awaiting their second dose.
From Saturday, vaccine will be given to only those due for second dose, Director of Public Health Dr G. Srinivasa Rao told reporters. This arrangement will continue till May 12.

Corona cases are on the rise in Telangana. On Wednesday alone, the state registered almost 8,000 cases which created fear among people and authorities. In this context, a fake Telangana Government Order claiming partial lockdown has gone viral on social media.
Dismissing the rumour, the Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao has clarified saying that the Health Department had not recommended imposing a lockdown in the state.

“The State Health Department has not given any such recommendations, as claimed in social media posts. All such claims are fake. At present, the Covid cases are not rising in Telangana and they have hit a plateau,” he said.

Hyderabad (Telangana) [India], April 28 (ANI): Telangana is all set for the third phase of the vaccination drive starting from May 1, Director of Public Health Dr G Srinivasa Rao said on Wednesday. As per the instructions of the Central government, from May 1 the inoculation process of people above 18 years to 44 years will be done in Telangana and the state is all set for this phase of vaccination, he told ANI.
He said the vaccinations will be provided free to adults below the age of 44 years.

COVID-19: Telangana lags behind in RT-PCR tests
This is against the recent guidelines of the ministry which is increasing the RTPCR test ratio to 70 per cent.

Hyderabad: Amid the second wave of COVID-19 being witnessed across the country, the union health ministry and family welfare revealed that Telangana is among states which are not doing enough RT-PCR tests to track the infections.
The list of states includes Puducherry, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur, Jharkhand, Kerala, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chhattisgarh, Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha, Bihar and Telangana with Telangana accounting the lowest percentage of RT-PCR test of only 15.50.
