People in Suffolk are largely following Covid-19 restrictions as stringently as they were in May last year during the first wave of the pandemic, Suffolk s public health chief has said.
Public Health Suffolk has been monitoring Google mobility data, which indicated that footfall at workplaces, transport locations, beaches and parks, shops, recreation spots, grocery stores and pharmacies were low.
Public Health Suffolk director Stuart Keeble said mobility data indicated the county was largely following lockdown rules as stringently as the first time around
The number of Covid patients in Ipswich and Colchester hospitals is now three times what it was at the peak of the pandemic's first wave, the chief executive of the NHS trust has warned.
St Elizabeth Hospice is again taking on patients following a coronavirus outbreak

Ipswich s St Elizabeth Hospice is again taking on new patients after it was forced to lockdown due to a coronavirus outbreak.
The hospice, in Foxhall Road, closed its doors to new patients last week after a small number of patients and staff tested positive for the virus.
Working alongside Public Health Suffolk and the Ipswich and East Suffolk NHS Clinical Commissioning Group, the hospice is again safe to admit patients again.
A hospice spokeswoman said: At a time when the hospitals are under such pressure, we are pleased to be able to once again admit patients who need our specialist palliative and end of life care.
Flu vaccine uptake has seen a huge boost in Suffolk amid coronavirus fears

Suffolk has seen a huge increase in uptake of the flu vaccine, with more people taking the jab amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
A rise in those receiving the vaccine has been seen across the board in the county as GPs, pharmacists and Public Health Suffolk pushed for patients to receive the important jab.
In West Suffolk, there was a rise of 18% in those 65 and over getting the flu jab up until the end of November.
Meanwhile, in Ipswich and East Suffolk, there was a rise of 12% in the same category, with 82.3% of those 65 and above registered at a GP having the vaccine.
