Senate meets today

ISLAMABAD: The Senate will meet for its first formal (regular) session today (April 5) with majority of the opposition parties appearing in no mood to accept the notified leader of the opposition, escalating the war of words between the PPP and PML-N with each passing day.
The House will meet after the election of new senators on March 03, the chairman Senate and deputy chairman on March 12 and notification of leader of opposition Yusuf Raza Gilani on March 26.
Muhammad Sadiq Sanjrani was elected for a second three-year term on March 12, defeating Gilani in the election. Similarly, the slot of the deputy chairman Senate was pocketed by the ruling coalition candidate Mirza Muhammad Afridi.
Shahriar holds bilateral talks with Saudi counterpart Adel Al-Jubeir
State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam held bilateral talks with his Saudi counterpart Adel Al-Jubeir at the latter’s Office in Riyadh on Sunday.
Saudi State Minister congratulated Bangladesh at its 50th anniversary of independence.
He highly praised the remarkable sustained economic growth of Bangladesh carried out in last one decade under the able leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
He continued, the recent UN decision to graduate Bangladesh from LDC category to the middle-income country is a testimony of this success.
He fondly remembered the historic ties between this two countries and the valued contribution of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to its independence and laying foundation of Golden Bengal.

ISLAMABAD: The national anti-graft watchdog on Wednesday decided to initiate another corruption inquiry against jailed Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif.
However, an inquiry against former finance minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ishaq Dar was closed owing to lack of incriminating evidence against him.
The decision to initiate an inquiry against Mr Sharif was taken by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at a meeting of its executive board that was presided over by its chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal.
