Barriers to new technology risk SME sector’s recovery post-pandemic, Vodafone study finds Extra.ie 22/02/2021 © Provided by Extra.ie Nearly six in 10 small businesses face ‘significant barriers’ in relation to the adoption of new technologies despite their willingness to invest, according to a new report from Vodafone Ireland and economist Stephen Kinsella. The study of 500 SMEs operating in Ireland across a number of industries found that 58% of companies face impediments to embracing new technologies, of which cost was seen as the biggest obstacle (37%). Trust in suppliers (36%), integration with older systems and having the right in-house capabilities (28%) were also common issues for SMEs wanting to invest.
