In the latest development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday booked former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Codeâs section 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
The CBI said on Saturday that its preliminary enquiry (PE) has found that a prima facie cognisable offence is made out against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others pertaining to alleged corruption and misuse of power.
The CBI said that Deshmukh and some unknown others had attempted to take undue advantage for improper and dishonest performance of their public duty .

Mumbai: In a series of swift moves, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR against ex-Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh, raided around 10 locations across multiple cities and later detained him in Nagpur, official sources said here on Saturday.
Following the first information report, the CBI teams wearing PPE kits, swooped at Deshmukh s home in Nagpur and other premises in Mumbai, Thane and Pune, stunning the ruling ally, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Mumbai: In a shocking development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Saturday that its preliminary enquiry (PE) has found that a prima facie cognisable offence is made out against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others pertaining to alleged corruption and misuse of power.
The CBI said that Deshmukh and some unknown others had attempted to take undue advantage for improper and dishonest performance of their public duty .
The PE was ordered by the Bombay High Court earlier this month.

COVID-19 in Maharashtra: ST buses are for essential service staff

In the wake of emergency measures announced by the state government to break the virus chain, Transport Minister Anil Parab announced on Thursday that the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporationâs (MSRTC) buses would only operate for essential service providers.
âST buses will run both inter and intra-district but only for essential services. The general public is prohibited from commuting on these buses till May 1,â he said, after a meeting with department officials.
Parabâs announcement was in tandem with the governmentâs new âBreak the Chainâ restrictions that came into effect from 8 pm on Thursday till 7 am on May 1. He said the number of bus services would be reduced, in the wake of new guidelines.
