Limerick TD invites Environment Minister to live with him for a week

Limerick s Live 95 Search By Live95 News Team via Getty Images A Limerick TD is inviting Environment and Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to come and live with him for week. Richard O Donoghue is extending the invitation, as he wants to show the Minister the reality of life in rural parts of Limerick.  Deputy O Donoghue has been critical of the government s efforts to encourage more people to live and work in towns and villages, saying many in Cabinet do not understand these areas.  He s been speaking to Live 95 s Limerick Today about his offer.

There’s been a surge in hotel bookings since yesterday’s announcement on the easing of restrictions. Meanwhile, travel agents say bookings for foreign holidays are low amid uncertainty about the return of international travel. The Taoiseach says international travel could return from July, though Transport Minister Eamon Ryan believes it will be the latter part of the summer Ireland is to embrace the EU’s digital green cert to allow travel within the bloc. It would allow people to travel if they are vaccinated, have a negative COVID test or can show they have recovered from the virus. With bookings non-existent for June and July, Pat Dawson from the Irish Travel Agents Association says he’s frustrated with The Transport Minister.

We re doing really well, we ve done really well in the last few months - we ve got our numbers down. we will get out of the precarious position we re in. And yes: I would expect in a number of months, rather than weeks, that that will see then the return to more normal arrangements in a whole range of areas - including international travel.
