Gen. Michael Garrett is the commander of the U.S. Army Forces Command, which leads more than 750,000 regular Army and Reserve soldiers across the nation. His own introduction to the Army started with his father, retired Command Sgt. Maj. Edward Garrett, who served for 35 years. Like many people who join the Army, my dad was looking for a way to better his lot in life, Garrett said. He was looking for increased opportunities.
FORT DRUM â The U.S. Army is kicking off its second annual nationwide virtual hiring campaign with a goal of recruiting 1,700 new soldiers to serve in 150 different occupations.

From May 10 until June 14, the U. S. Army will host their National Hiring Days campaign to recruit individuals for more than 150 careers.
The virtual event, which launched in 2020 because of the COVID-19 pandemic, will take place over five-weeks at recruiting stations in Louisiana, Mississippi and West Tennessee.
The Army says that up to $40,000 in signing bonuses or student loan reimbursement up to $65,000 are available to those who qualify.
Career options range from traditional combat roles in infantry and armor to support positions in healthcare, intelligence and human resources. The recruiters will also be on hand to discuss the benefits like health insurance, retirement plans, training and certifications, tuition assistance for college courses, and family support programs.
