Credit: Action Images Former Watford footballer and manager Kenny Jackett will be taking a short break away from football to recover from an operation. The Portsmouth manager will not attend any matches or training sessions from Thursday, with a medical procedure booked in on his arm that will require a short period of rest and recuperation. The news was confirmed by the League One club this morning, with dozens of people sending messages of goodwill to Watford-born Jackett and the club. Speaking at a press conference today, Jackett said: I need an operation on my forearm. They re expecting I ll be out for around two weeks, or will need two weeks recovery after that operation. It is a precautionary one.

It is ten years since we lost talented World Cup goalkeeper Norman Uprichard, a crowd pleaser and entertainer of the highest order.

Portsmouth Football Club players and fans joined in a minute’s applause at Fratton Park on February 5, 2011, after Norman suffered a massive stroke and died on January 30, 2011, at the age of 82.
At 5ft 9in tall, Norman was a small goalkeeper but he had a big heart and won the crowds’ admiration for his bravery.
Norman represented his native Northern Ireland 18 times during a successful career which saw him play 182 times for Portsmouth and 73 games at Swindon Town, before he settled in Hastings.
SWINDON Town’s Boxing Day trip to Portsmouth could be postponed after a “widespread” Covid-19 outbreak at the Fratton Park club. There has yet to be any official confirmation out of either club, however, The News in Portsmouth reported that the Boxing Day fixture is set to be called off after at least three positive cases were found at Pompey and a further player was told to self-isolate. Defender Jack Whatmough was the first Portsmouth player to fall ill, doing so ahead of Pompey’s trip to Hull City at the weekend, before two other players complained of symptoms consistent with Covid-19 after coming into close contact.
