The Chevrolet Corvette and the Porsche 911 are closer competitors than theyâve ever been before. Both cars were redesigned for 2020, with big changes for the Corvette and small but effective evolutions for the 911.
The recent switch of the Corvette from a front-engine to a mid-engine layout brought significant improvements in handling and overall performance. Interior quality is higher, too. Back in the day, Porsche’s Carrera GT was the daddy of mid-engine supercars. Unveiled as the Carrera GT concept at the 2000 Paris Auto Show, Porsche began production of its ultimate grand-touring sports car in 2004, and the world has never been the same.
Now, it’s hard to think of Carrera GT as ‘vintage’ or ‘classic’ despite its analog roots, but it’s a rare sight. Porsche only sold 1,270 units of the Carrera GT from 2004 to 2007, with only 644 units sold in the United States.

1:33.88 minutes for production EVs at the Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta’s 2.54-mile race track north of Braselton, Georgia, U.S.
The German manufacturer has released two videos from this impressive lap, actually recorded on November 3. The car was driven by Leh Keen, a professional race car driver.
