LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) Two more officers involved in the fatal shooting of Breonna Taylor have been fired a detective believed to have fired the fatal shot and another who sought the search warrant that led to the deadly raid, authorities announced Wednesday.
The announcement came moments after city officials said the former Atlanta police chief would soon take over the Louisville Police Department after months of unrest over Taylor’s death. Erika Shields served in Atlanta for 25 years, including more than three years as chief. Her tenure

A pair of Louisville, Ky., police officers connected to the raid on Breonna Taylor s apartment last year were formally terminated from the force, a spokesperson for the Louisville Metro Police Department confirmed Wednesday.
The termination letters, signed by interim Police Chief Yvette Gentry, said Detective Joshua Jaynes, who secured the warrant for the March 13 raid on Taylor s home, and Detective Myles Cosgrove, who federal and Louisville investigators said fired the shot that killed the 26-year-old Taylor, were dismissed from the force as of Tuesday.
Each has 10 days to appeal the police department s decision.

(LOUISVILLE, Ky.) Two Louisville police officers have been fired from the department for their roles in the shooting death of Breonna Taylor.
The terminations of officer Myles Cosgrove and Det. Joshua Jaynes were made official on Tuesday in letters from interim Police Chief Yvette Gentry, who held closed-door hearings with the officers and their attorneys on Monday.
Cosgrove, who fired the shot that killed Taylor per a ballistics analysis, and Jaynes, who prepared the search warrant, received pre-termination letters last week.
