Forbes Library opens more space
NORTHAMPTON Forbes Library continues to expand its offerings to the public as the threat of COVID-19 lessens, and has opened many additional spaces such as study tables, computers and movie stacks.
Though visitors are still required to wear masks and curbside and home delivery services remain available, the Children’s and Young Adult sections are now open on Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and later this month more hours will be added on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Items from these sections and information concerning Summer Reading are accessible whenever the library is open.
CANCER treatment services at Halton Hospital which were badly affected by the coronavirus pandemic are beginning to return to normal. This is despite more than a fifth of cancer patients at Warrington and Halton Hospitals Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust having waited more than two months for treatment in February. NHS data shows that 77.9 per cent of the trust’s cancer patients started treatment within 62 days of an urgent GP referral in February. However, 11 patients had waited longer than two months, causing the trust to fall below the 85 per cent NHS target introduced more than a decade ago. Despite this, the figure was up from 55.7 per cent in January and remains considerably higher than the national average of 69.7 per cent across England.
