Relief funds earmarked for performing arts in Rhode Island NBC 10 NEWS
The federal coronavirus relief package includes $15 billion for the Save our Stages Act.
It would provide aid to theaters and other entertainment venues that have sat vacant for nearly nine months, including venues like the Vets, the Dunkin Donuts Center and the Rhode Island Convention Center.
The Providence Performing Arts Center usually brings in about $25 million a year. We depend upon our theaters, our stages, to give us the kind of economic oomph that brings people here to visit. So, you re an economic factor but more importantly you re a cultural factor, Sen. Jack Reed said.
