A former Tshwane Metro cop has been sentenced to three years in prison.
This comes after she was found guilty on a corruption charge relating to a bribe he solicited from an undercover agent from the National Traffic Anti-Corruption Unit of the Road Traffic Management Corporation.
According to RTMC spokesman Simon Zwane, Sebo Mathabatha (44) was sentenced by the Pretoria Regional Court on 28 April after a trial that dragged on for more than five years.
The case was first heard in the Cullinan Magistrates Court and was moved after Mathabatha’s lawyers challenged the magistrate to recuse herself.

The Pretoria regional court has ruled that the Investigative Directorate (ID) can proceed with its fraud probe against former Eskom executive, France Hlakudi.
Hlakudi’s legal team had brought an application for the striking off of the fraud charges before his tax evasion matter proceeds to trial.
ID spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka said the ruling by magistrate Adriaan Bekker on Thursday allows the ID, working with Sars, to proceed with the matter of alleged fraud and tax evasion of R30m against the former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts. The case returns to court on May 24.

Hlakudi, a former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts, is facing 44 counts of tax fraud-related charges.
He is also also set to appear in the Palm Ridge Magistrate s Court on 1 June in a R745 million corruption case related to Eskom s Kusile Power Station.
Hlakudi resigned from Eskom in November 2017.

Tax fraud charges against Eskom manager to be prosecuted
A Pretoria High Court judge has ruled in favour of the ID which is prosecuting the Eskom manager for R30 million alleged tax fraud.
The Pretoria High Court has ordered that tax fraud charges against a former Eskom senior manager must continue to be prosecuted.
Magistrate Adriaan Bekker ruled in favour of the Investigating Directorate to keep the fraud charges against former Eskom senior manager, France Hlakudi, in the multimillion tax fraud matter, on Thursday.
“The ruling handed allows the Investigating Directorate, working with SARS, to swiftly proceed with the matter of fraud and tax evasion of R30 million against former Eskom senior manager for capital contracts,” Investigating Directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Seboka said.
