Ras saw the boat at the repair shop when he visited Van Jaarsveld.
Ras then offered to sell the boat to Bolhuis for R200 000 and together with Van Jaarsveld, falsified the papers to make it look as if Du Plessis had sold it to Ras.

Bolhuis reported the transaction to the police after he read a newspaper report about Ras being arrested for another case.
He told them Ras had sold him a boat for R200 000, and he suspected the sale might not be legitimate.

Tshepo Frans Kekana was sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a 32-year-old victim in 2019.
It transpired that at the time of the rape, Kekana was out on parole linked to another rape conviction.
The Pretoria North Magistrate s Court ordered that Kekana serve 12 years of his sentence before being eligible for parole.
A 37-year-old man, who had previously been convicted of rape, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for raping a woman behind a church, while he was out on parole.

According to the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA), in February 2019, the victim was on her way to meet her boyfriend in Soshanguve in the evening when Tshepo Frans Kekana accosted her, dragged her behind a church and raped her.

The family of Thembinkosi Thabethe, who died after being stabbed at a security estate in April, are happy that the man accused of his murder, Leon Coetzee, has been denied bail.
Thabethe will be buried in Mpumalanga on Saturday.
Coetzee, who faces a charge of murder, was denied bail by the Pretoria North Magistrate s Court on Friday.
Coetzee is accused of stabbing Thabethe three times outside his house in Green Acres Estate, in Montana, on 26 April.

Coetzee, who appeared in the Pretoria North Magistrate s Court on Friday, is accused of stabbing Thabethe three times outside of his house in Green Acres Estate in Montana on 26 April.
Thabethe died in hospital on 1 May.
Thabethe, who also lives in the estate, went to confront Coetzee s wife about a message addressed to her on the estate s WhatsApp group.
EFF members forced their way into the Pretoria North Magistrate s Court on Friday where a man accused of stabbing Thembinkosi Thabethe to death is applying for bail.
The court entrances were closed on Friday, which angered the EFF members who then started kicking the gates, before lifting them off its rails and entering the court premises.
There were no police officers at the court at the time.
It s alleged Thabethe was stabbed three times by Leon Coetzee following an argument about a message on a WhatsApp group.
Both men lived in the Green Acres Estate in Montana.
Coetzee, who is applying for bail, alleged he acted in self-defence.
