OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 104 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday, the second straight day with a triple-digit increase in cases. Five more deaths linked to novel coronavirus were also reported. Since the first case of COVID-19 in Ottawa on March 11, 2020, there have been 25,732 cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, including 533 deaths. The 104 new cases in Ottawa follows 115 cases on Wednesday and 67 new cases on Tuesday. Across Ontario, there are 2,759 new cases of novel coronavirus on Thursday. Health officials reported 774 new cases in Toronto, 602 in Peel Region and 258 in York Region. Public Health Ontario reports 110 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa on Thursday. There is sometimes a discrepancy in COVID-19 reporting between Public Health Ontario and Ottawa Public Health based on when the data is collected from the reporting system.

An outbreak of COVID-19 at Belleville General Hospital has been linked to the death of one inpatient and the infections of more people beyond the initial group, The Intelligencer has learned.
Hastings Prince Edward Public Health reported the outbreak on the Quinte 5 medical inpatient unit began April 27.

“Tragically, one individual who already had significant underlying conditions contracted COVID-19 through the outbreak, and passed away,” Susan Rowe, Quinte Health Care’s vice-president of people and strategy, wrote via e-mail.
OTTAWA Ottawa Public Health is reporting 115 more people in the city have tested positive for COVID-19 and another person has died. Across the province, officials added 2,320 new cases of COVID-19. The province also reported 3,477 newly resolved cases and said 32 more people had died. Public Health Ontario reported 105 new cases in Ottawa on Wednesday. Figures from OPH often differ from those provided by Public Health Ontario because the two health units pull data for their respective daily reports at different times of the day. The new figures from OPH s COVID-19 dashboard bring the city s pandemic totals to 25,628 laboratory-confirmed cases and 528 resident deaths.
There are now a total of 83 active COVID-19 cases between the two counties.
Three of the new cases today are listed as close contacts, one is travel and the remaining four are still pending.
Hospital staff are treating 17 people, with seven in ICU and five on a ventilator.
The outbreak declared on April 28th at a workplace in Belleville has been declared over. In that situation, three cases of the virus were linked.
