In this Article KANGHYUK and Reebok have teamed up for a special take on the Classic Leather, one that’s constructed entirely of recycled airbags and industrial polyamide. Made in partnership with Dover Street Market London, the shoes are limited to a scant 25 pairs and are equal parts art project, sustainability experiment and unparalleled take on a famed silhouette. The KANGHYUK x Reebok Classic Leather’s ultra-thin upper is dressed entirely in red, and held together by a cacophony of tonal seams plus stacked pieces. Though it’s devoid of its standard Reebok text hits, there are plenty of other Classic Leather signifiers like the Vector logo on the quarter panel, an unadorned midfoot window and a wide toebox with two lines of perforations. Collars are held together by a thick line of stitching, and a jersey-like mesh material lines the inside. Down below, red EVA foam midsoles work with red rubber outsoles to round off the look.
