A Palestinian prisoner in Israel on his 29th day of hunger strike punished by transferring him to another prison

RAMALLAH, Thursday, April 15, 2021 (WAFA) – The Israeli Prison Service (IPS) today transferred a hunger-striking prisoner to Asqalan Prison in southern Israel in order to punish him for being on 29 days of hunger strike in protest against his administrative detention, according to the Prisoners Affairs Commission.
It said in a press statement that Imad Sawarka, who has been on a hunger strike for 29 consecutive days, was punitively transferred from the Naqab Prison to Asqalan Prison.

The Prisoners and Ex Prisoners Affairs Commission and the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society on Wednesday evening announced the passing of prisoner Maher Sa’sa’ (45 years) from Qalqilya, in Rimonim Israeli prison.
In a joint statement, the two organizations said that there are no clear details yet about the reasons of his death, and his case will be followed up and the reasons will be examined.
In a video on social media, the prisoner’s daughter said that the family had no specific details about the death circumstances, but mentioned that her father suffered from medical negligence since he had health problems, including hypertension, heart and lung problems, and that his health was lately deteriorating.
