The single most pressing issue facing our (board, district, etc.) is , and this is what I intend to do about it. The most important issues facing the Village of Flossmoor over the next few years will include maintaining our solid financial position in an environment of reduced State of Illinois revenue and reduced economic activity posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Village is also facing an aging infrastructure challenge which has resulted in problems with flooding and street disrepair. Finally, the Village will have to find a way to maintain the highest standards in Fire and Police protection, as well as Public Works services, while coping with increased pension mandates from Springfield.

OAK LAWN, IL Kate McDermott is running for Oak Lawn library trustee in the upcoming April 6 consolidated election. McDermott, 40, is a long-time Oak Lawn resident, attending Dist. 123 schools and is a graduate of Oak Lawn Community High School. She is a developmental therapist. Seven candidates, including two incumbents, are vying for two seats on the library board. Library trustees serve six-year terms. The top two vote getters will win the election. Early voting starts March 22.

Recovering mentally, socially, financially, and physically from the pandemic is what the people of Orland Park want most. We now (and have for a while) know how to move forward safely. Kids need to get back to their activities, schools need to fully open, businesses need to be allowed to reopen, all of which can be done safely. Residents are suffering due to the unreasonable and non-data based restrictions. I would continue the efforts of Mayor Pekau on pushing for reopening, safely, so our residents can get their lives, livelihoods, and mental health back

I am running for Assessor of Orland Township, so my duties are different from the board. The most pressing issue for the assessor office is to make sure that property assessments are fair and equitable for all of Orland Township homeowners. I have been a taxpayer s advocate for the last 16 years

The fiscal stability of the State of Illinois is ranked dead last in the country. For decades, leadership in our state has continuously failed to address the reality of mounting debt and unfunded pension liabilities. 2020 census data shows that Illinois is one of only two states in the nation to lose population. With Springfield s decades-long track record, I see little indication that our General Assembly will focus on meaningful cost cutting. That means that the rest of us remaining here will carry an even larger tax burden.
