In a heartfelt tribute to an IPS legend, who spent his entire life in the service of the people and the force, the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy on Tuesday decided to name one of its lecture halls after Late Dr. K. Madhukar Shetty IPS. The academy has named the main lecture hall of Basic Course after the late IPS officer, who died in 2018 due to swine flu.

After it was alleged that officials of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) were taking bribes to allot private hospital beds reserved for Covid patients in Bengaluru, the Karnataka High Court has now ordered a probe into the matter.

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 12 (ANI): Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommaihas stated that Step Down hospitals should be set up in hotels with the help of private hospitals in the state to treat COVID-19 patients.
A virtual meeting on Wednesday was chaired by Basavaraj Bommai along with Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Chief Commissioner Gaurav Gupta to discuss the setting up of step down hospitals in hotels in the state amid the rising COVID-19 cases and subsequently increasing demand for hospital beds.
Step down facility will be used to monitor patients who are discharged from hospitals and are in stable condition.
Bengaluru becoming hotbed of Covid
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike on Tuesday decided to supply free food to migrants and labourers across the city through its network of Indira Canteens.
According to a civic body release, all Indira Canteens in the municipal limits will provide food packets three times a day (breakfast, lunch and dinner) free of charge for poor people, migrants and labourers, in the city, from May 12 till the end of the lockdown on May 24.

The beneficiaries will have to furnish identity cards such as voter ID card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, or Labour Department identity card to obtain the meals.
