CENTRAL CITY â It all started when Brent Kennedy took a trip down the school gymnasium rabbit hole following what should have been a run-of-the-mill Central City Public Schools board meeting.
âWe had just bantered around about building a new gym,â Kennedy, a Central City Public Schools Board of Education member, recalled. âI stayed up almost all night because I was so excited.â
Click after click, keystroke after keystroke, images of top-notch gymnasiums appeared on Kennedyâs monitor.
Then he saw it.
âI came across these domes being built where tornadoes are really bad,â Kennedy said.
The man then gets in the truck and drives it straight out through the exit doors, demolishing them in the process. Once outside, he loads some gas cans from the first stolen truck into the bed of the second one, not even bothering to ditch the sale sign sitting next to them, and drives away.
Brent Kennedy, the owner of Edward’s Garage Chevrolet, says he expects the damage to cost tens of thousands to repair. “We’ve had previous thefts,” Kennedy told CTV News Edmonton, estimating the damages to be around $50,000. “But, I’ve never had a vehicle that was used to break into our building before.”
