Mumbai: âSkin-to-skinâ verdict judge gets extension

Weeks after the Supreme Court collegium withdrew its recommendation on the appointment of Justice Pushpa Ganediwala as a permanent judge of the Bombay High Court, owing to her controversial judgments in cases of child sex abuse, the President of India has extended her tenure by one more year.
In a notification issued on the Union law ministry s website, it is stated, The President is pleased to appoint Justice Pushpa Ganediwala as an additional judge of the Bombay HC for a period of one year from February 13, 2020.
Notably, Justice Ganediwala s present tenure as an additional judge was to end on Friday and she would have stepped down from her judgeship, had the government not extended her term.

NDA nominee Ram Nath Kovind won the Presidential poll on Thursday and he would become 14th President of India on July 25. He got 7,02,644 votes while UPA s candidate Meira Kumar secured 3,67, 314votes, Returning Officer Anoop Mishra said.

New Delhi [India], February 12 (ANI): Late celebrated Indian musician Ghulam Mustafa Khan s daughter-in-law Namrata Gupta Khan recently met President Ram Nath Kovind and presented a book based on the life of the iconic classical musician.
Namrata presented the book titled A Dream I Lived Alone , which narrates the life story of her father-in-law and legendary musician. She was accompanied by her brother-in-laws Murtuza Mustafa, Qadir Mustafa, Hasan Mustafa, and husband Rabbani Mustafa, who are renowned singers.

29 MPs give notice for 204 amendments to pressure government

New Delhi, Feb 08: The Opposition, in a bid to build pressure on the government, have given notice for 204 amendments to President Ram Nath Kovind s address to the joint session. The subjects on which they have sought amendments include the farmers agitation, leaked WhatsApp chats of Arnab Goswami and the pandemic.
As many as 29 MPs from 11 parties, including the Congress, TMC, Left parties and DMK have given notices seeking amendments. A number of Opposition members have expressed regret for the President not mentioning any solution to the ongoing farmers protests against the three farm Bills passed by Parliament in the monsoon session.
