(WMC) - The U.S. Department of Education announced the 57th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars and three of the Volunteer State’s very own high school seniors are on that list. The department says this award recognizes 161 high school seniors for their achievements in academics, arts and career and technical education fields. The Tennessee students named scholars are listed below: Nelson D. Rose, Brentwood High School, Brentwood, Tennessee. Alora E Young, Hillsboro High School, Nashville, Tennessee (U.S. Presidential Scholar in Arts).

The U.S. Department of Education issued a press release Thursday morning stating that Alex Prayner, a student at Mat-Su Career and Technical School, and Parker Emma Rabinowitz, who is from Girdwood, are two of the 161 high school seniors selected by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.

A Thursday morning news release from the U.S. Department of Education announced that Louisiana-based students, Ju-Woo Nho of Baton Rouge Magnet High School and Eric Jaron Jones of Destrehan High School are among the 161 high school seniors who comprise the 57th class of U.S. Presidential Scholars.
