Business coalition donates millions

Copyright © 2021 Albuquerque Journal A $3 million donation from a group of businesses will allow the 2nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office to access a criminal data platform currently under construction, giving police and prosecutors the ability to link violent groups and individuals in real time, and head off violent crime before it occurs, District Attorney Raúl Torrez said Friday. The donation is the larger part of a $3.5 million contribution from the Business Coalition for a Better Albuquerque, and it includes a donation of $500,000 toward city initiatives addressing the problem of homelessness. The five businesses that put up the money are: PNM Resources, Presbyterian Healthcare Services, French Funerals and Cremations, Bank of Albuquerque and New Mexico Mutual.
