Ian Critchley is new deputy Chief Constable for Merseyside

His appointment was confirmed by Chief Constable Serena Kennedy this afternoon. His career began at the age of 22 in Lancashire Constabulary. It was for his tireless work in developing the force approach to protecting vulnerable people and tackling child sexual exploitation that he was awarded the Queens Police Medal in 2016. Following his appointment, Ian, who is married with three daughters, said: I am absolutely delighted to have been appointed as the new Deputy Chief Constable for Merseyside Police, it’s a huge honour and I look forward to working with the Chief Constable and our brilliant staff to serve and protect all Merseyside Communities.
