Fewer than five new cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Clare; 371 new cases confirmed nationally

THE Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of fewer than five additional cases of Covid-19 in Clare and 13 additional deaths related to Covid-19 nationally. Three deaths occurred in April, three in March, and seven in February or earlier. The median age of those who died was 85 years and the age range was 60 to 95 years. There has been a total of 4,896 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland.
As of midnight, Tuesday, April 27, the HPSC has been notified of 371 confirmed cases of Covid-19. There has now been a total of 247,857 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

Health conditions that carry the most risk of having a severe outcome from Covid-19 include chronic heart disease, neurological conditions, kidney disease and cancer, a study in the Republic of Ireland has found.
It also found that patients who were morbidly obese were also identified as being at higher risk of more severe outcomes from Covid-19.
The national study of 20,000 patients conducted by RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences and the HSE Health Protection Surveillance Centre (HPSC) identified the underlying conditions.
