Ctg residents worried as no list prepared; vaccination training of health workers yet to start; frontliners to get priority
The Covid-19 vaccination campaign is about to kick off in the country, however, training of health officials, workers and volunteers in this regard is yet to start in Chattogram.
Not just that, such programme at district level, which was supposed to start on January 23 has been delayed. Asked, Sheikh Fazle Rabbi, civil surgeon of Chattogram, said it would start in a day or two.
He said a total of 28 health workers and 56 volunteers would be trained up to conduct vaccination in 15 upazilas.
According to officials, health workers and other frontliners would be vaccinated first on priority basis. However, they have not taken any step to prepare a list of the elderly and adults suffering from long-term diseases who are most vulnerable to Covid-19.
Dr Habibul Ahsan Talukder, Rajshahi divisional director of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), said civil surgeons, administrations and local government officials are likely to complete a list comprising health workers within a few days. Then they will prepare another list with other frontliners, including law enforcers and journalists, he added.
They said the government is launching a smartphone app at the end of this month for people to get registered for vaccination.

Seychelles on Thursday re-opened its doors to visitors from anywhere in the world as long as they have taken both doses of the Covid-19 vaccination, said a top tourism official.
In addition to the vaccine, the traveller must also produce a negative PCR test taken within the prior 72 hours, the Minister for Tourism Sylvestre Radegonde told a press conference.
Tourists to the island nation must provide proof of the vaccination through an authenticate certificate. With all these, in order, the visitor will not need to go into quarantine upon arrival in the 115-island Indian Ocean archipelago.

Officials on Monday said around 48 Ehsaas Nashonuma Centres were being established in the country’s 13 districts to provide health services and conditional cash transfers mainly to prevent children from stunting.
This was informed during the introductory meeting of Ehsaas Nashonuma steering committee held here under the chairmanship of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar.
