Arus Sem, 28, appeared in the Blenheim District Court on Monday and admitted driving over the breath alcohol limit and crashing into an oncoming vehicle. Sem appeared in the Blenheim District Court on Monday where he pleaded guilty to a charge of driving with excess breath alcohol and a charge of dangerous driving. He also pleaded guilty to two charges of burglary relating to offending in Auckland and a charge of failing to answer bail.

Leon Christopher McGuire, 57, appeared in the Blenheim District Court for sentencing on one charge of driving while disqualified.
A man who was caught driving while disqualified for the tenth time said he did it because he wanted to catch some fish. Leon Christopher McGuire, 57, was caught behind the wheel at 1.30am earlier this year. At the time of the offence, McGuire was living at a friend’s property in a caravan in rural Marlborough, near the Wairau Bar. His lawyer Philip Watson said McGuire was illiterate, something he had always been embarrassed by, and had therefore never held a driver’s licence.
“I started to speed up a bit . and I noticed he sped up behind me so I started jogging a bit, and broke into a run, and he yelled out to me and said along the lines of, ‘oi’, so I immediately got quite panicked,” the woman said. “I started running, and he said, ‘you b.., you’re coming home with me tonight, s.,’ and I was running quite fast and not looking back.” As the man closed in, the woman realised she would lead him to the house where she was staying alone and changed course. When she reached a more shadowy part of the street she was able to hide between a fence and a bush, she said.
