Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], April 10 (ANI): As the three-tier Panchayat system gave powers to panchayat members to provide work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), many people below the poverty line in Dhangri block of Rajouri has been provided jobs under MGNREGA.
The scheme has given new hopes for people living in far-flung hilly areas of Dhangri block with no road or water connectivity.
Ram Krishan, Sarpanch, Potha Panchayat said, I am very happy about the pace at which work is happening. MNREGA and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) are going on well. Many departments are working on this. We are at work to give water connectivity to the whole of this panchayat.

⚫ Voting ends at: Officially 6.30pm. Voters who queue up outside their polling booth before 6.30pm will be allowed to cast their vote, however long it takes to complete the process.
⚫ Will there be any restrictions in areas going to the polls?
Yes. Usually, Section 144 of the CrPC is imposed on the area that falls within 100 metres of a polling booth. In case of a sensitive booth, the radius is extended to 200 metres. Police are supposed to prevent assemblies in areas close to polling booths.

It has been a life of hard labour for 65-year-old Elsie Antony, a worker under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
“Whichever government comes to power, they should be able to see, acknowledge and reward regular workers like us,” said the resident of Neericode in Alangad, who was a construction worker for several years before she took up work under the MGNREGA. Both her pension and her wages are crucial to women like her, she says, since they at least cover the cost of medication.
