Schools in Mumbai to remain shut till January 15, announces BMC

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) announced on Tuesday that
schools in Mumbai will continue to remain shut till January 15, 2021, keeping in mind the COVID-19 situation in the city.
Earlier, the BMC had ordered schools to not reopen until December 31 in the wake of the pandemic.
Since the past few days, the daily case count of COVID-19 patients has been decreasing in Mumbai. However, to ensure that students lives are not risked, the authorities have made the decision to keep schools shut for now.
The permission to reopen schools in major cities including Mumbai, Mumbai suburbs and Thane will be notified only after consultation with the state public health department, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad had announced earlier.
