With new coronavirus-induced restrictions coming into force in Maharashtra from Thursday night, the state government said only government personnel and health workers will be allowed to travel by suburban trains in Mumbai. The fresh restrictions under the government s `Break- the-Chain programme came into force at 8 pm on Thursday and will remain effective till 7 am on May 1. Mumbai on Thursday reported 75 deaths due to COVID-19, the highest one-day fatality count since July last year. The city reported 7,410 new cases.Meanwhile, Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said the state government is even willing to touch the Centre s feet if it helps in getting the required supply of oxygen amid the severe shortage. Nagpur (Maharashtra) [India], April 23 (ANI): After Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray ordered a probe into the death of 13 patients in a fire at Vijay Vallabh COVID Care Hospital in Virar area of Maharashtra a Palghar district, former Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday alleged that after every untoward incident Thackeray announces a probe that actually does not take place.
Fadnavis told reporters here today, The incident in Virar is unfortunate. After each incident, the Chief Minister announces an audit but that does not take place.

A fire broke out at Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Virar in Mumbai early on Friday morning. Thirteen Covid-19 patients lost their lives in the incident, the hospital s CEO Dr Dilip Jain confirmed.
There were 90 patients in the hospital, 18 of them in the ICU when the fire broke out after a blast in the AC unit, an official said. The dead include five women and eight men.
Visuals showed the smoke-filled ICU in a disarray after the blaze, with the ceiling falling off in some places, beds and other furniture strewn around and kin of the deceased wailing outside the hospital.

The fire erupted around 3am local time on Friday in the ICU ward of the Vijay Vallabh private hospital, housing around 90 patients.

Bombay HC takes suo motu cognizance of Nashik Oxygen leak incident ANI | Updated: Apr 23, 2021 14:06 IST
Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], April 23 (ANI): The Bombay High Court has taken suo motu cognisance of the NashikOxygen leak incident in which 24 people lost their lives.
The court has asked the state government to file a reply on it.
As many as 24 people died in the oxygen tanker leakage incident at Dr Zakir Hussain Hospital in Maharashtra s Nashik district on Wednesday. Death toll rises to 24. There was no negligence by the Corporation. A high-level committee has been set up to probe the incident, said Nashik Mayor Satish Kulkarni.
