Janta Curfew: Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announces financial package of Rs 5,476 crore for poor

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, in a bid to provide much needed relief during the âJanata Curfewâ from April 14 to May 1, has announced a package of Rs 5,476 crore for the economically weaker sections, including families below the poverty line, women, the aged, widows, the physically challenged, the unorganised sector, rickshaw drivers and tribals.
Despite the present financial crunch in the state, the government will mop up funds to implement this package. In addition, Thackeray has urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to release aid as provided for affected by natural calamities.

Mumbai: As the COVID-19 situation continues to remain grim in Mumbai, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) chief Iqbal Singh Chahal on Tuesday assured that there is no shortage of beds in Maharashtra’s capital.
While talking to
Times Now’s Heena Gambhir, the BMC chief tried to give an overall view of the situation and said that as per experts, the coronavirus condition in Mumbai will start stabilising in a week s time.

NEW DELHI: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday (April 13) announced a 15-day long lockdown style restrictions starting 8 pm onwards on April 14 till April 30, to break the chain of the coronavirus that has gripped the state. The curfew, which excludes essential services, will come into effect from 8 pm on Wednesday, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said in his address via social media to people of the state. Section 144 (prohibitory orders) of the Criminal Procedure Code will be in force till the lockdown-like restrictions are in place, Thackeray said.
