State to see muted Gudi Padwa celebrations today; processions, bike rallies banned
For the first time in more than 45 days, Maharashtra’s recoveries outweighed its case surge, with the State reporting 51,751 new COVID-19 cases on Monday as opposed to a robust 52,312 recoveries.
The State’s active case tally has dipped marginally to 5,64,746. As many as 258 deaths (169 of which were reported in the last 48 hours, while the rest were from an earlier period), pushed the total death toll to 58,245.

Gudi Padwa, the Maharashtrian New Year, will be celebrated tomorrow (Tuesday, March 13). However, the celebrations will be dampened this year due to the alarming rise in COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray-led government has issued a list of guidelines to be followed during the Gudi Padwa celebrations this year. As per the guidelines, a gathering of more than five people is prohibited in public places from 7 am to 8 pm across the state. Processions, bike rallies, etc. have also been banned.

Why did you set up
?
The group was formed in 2017 by eight members because there was not much community activity for our region compared to other countries. The purpose was to connect the Marathi network, to create a community where we can come together to celebrate our traditional festivals and enjoy special food. Each person has a unique experience in Belgium to share.
