Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan shot a barb at Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel at a briefing Tuesday during questions about suburban county health departments receiving fewer doses of COVID-19 vaccines than the city.
The city received 15,000 doses this week while neighboring county health departments received fewer. Macomb County, for example, received 7,275 first doses of vaccine, just over half of what Detroit received and far fewer than the 50,000 doses Hackel has been asking the state and, most recently, President Joe Biden, for each week. I was happy for Macomb County that County Executive Hackel is taking COVID seriously. It was just a couple of months ago that he was publicly supporting the Unlock Michigan petition drive to take away the governor s ability to protect people on COVID, Duggan said during the briefing, in which he announced that food service workers, security guards and janitors who live or work in Detroit are now eligible for vaccination at the TCF Cen

ST. CLAIR SHORES St. Clair Shores officials once again alerted the community to potential lead in water from homes with lead service lines after semiannual testing found eight sites out of 62 tested where the Action Level of 15 parts per billion was exceeded.
“We have to sample twice a year, 60 homes,” said Department of Public Works Director Bryan Babcock. “Until we can get enough of the lead service lines out of the system, there’s always going to be a chance of exceeding the action level because you have to sample at homes with lead service lines.”

ST. CLAIR SHORES, MI Macomb County health officials said Thursday that the department is providing some St. Clair Shores residents with water filter kits and faucet and pitcher filters after water samples from the city s municipal water system showed lead levels in the drinking water exceeding state standards.
St. Clair Shores officials reported the elevated lead levels Wednesday. The county in a news release said the water testing occurred as part of routine compliance sampling required by the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy under the state s Safe Drinking Water Act.

DETROIT (AP) Michigan State Police are warning of a man who’s allegedly impersonated police and made traffic stops. Authorities say they received reports of a man in an unmarked car identifying himself as a state trooper and making stops around 7:30 p.m. Saturday near Interstate 96 and Davison Avenue in Detroit. The man was reportedly wearing a black uniform and driving a black car with red and blue lights. Police say troopers don’t use unmarked cars for traffic stops. Police advise anyone uncertain of being stopped by an unmarked car to slow down, use hazard lights, drive to a public place and call 911.
