A pretty good day : Fourth of July celebrations continue into Monday | Region

BELTON — Area residents’ patriotism did not conclude with the fireworks on Sunday, as Independence Day celebrations continued throughout Bell County on Monday. Despite the morning showers briefly delaying some locals’ plans, hundreds of area residents filed into Temple Lake Park — 14190 FM 2305 in Belton — for a day filled with eating, drinking and swimming. “It’s rained here and there but I’m grilling chicken, burgers and hot dogs, so it’s been a pretty good day,” Amanda Schafer, a 35-year-old Killeen resident, said. “I just plan on just relaxing and enjoying my company with friends and family.” Meanwhile, Temple resident Brian Arroyo told the Telegram how the trip to Lake Belton was a great way to continue celebrating the Fourth of July.

Cove High s Project Graduation holds benefit car wash

With perfect conditions for a car wash last Saturday — 76 degrees and sunny — Project Graduation, a program that is put on by graduating students and volunteers of Copperas Cove High School, held a fundraiser car wash, raising around $1,200. The goal of the fundraiser is to give seniors a safe and fun environment after graduation where seniors can be together and do activities. The project is actually a gift to students from the Copperas Cove community. This program is a self-supporting nonprofit, which is sponsored by the Project Graduation committee, and it does not receive any funding from the budget of Copperas Cove High School.
