WASHINGTON (WKBW) â Democratic Rep. Brian Higgins (N.Y.-26) announced on Wednesday that schools in Erie and Niagara Counties will receive nearly $414 million in COVID-19 relief funds under the American Rescue Plan.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â Throughout the pandemic, parents say they have have noticed the toll it s taking on their children. All of our students are being adversely impacted mentally, physically and emotionally, Tarja Parssinen, a Williamsville parent said.
It s why a group of parents with children in the Clarence, Williamsville and Buffalo school districts started Western New York Students First, a group giving a voice to students, parents and everyone in between. Lets have a voice and a better seat at the table, or more seats at the table, because right now it doesn t feel like they have many or any, Jonathan Rich, a Williamsville parent said.
D Youville College working with African Heritage Co-Op to address food insecurity

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) â D Youville College is working on adding a new program that aims to provide healthy meals to students as well as food insecurity among students, in a partnership with the African Heritage Co-Op.
The program known as Fresh Packs offers fresh fruit, vegetables, and other healthy options at no charge to those who need it.
Students will place their orders by noon every Wednesday and pick up their Fresh Packs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays at The Park, DâYouvilleâs student advocacy center.
The Niagara Falls City School District is making sure it provides academic and behavioral support for students through a mental health pilot program called Behavioral and Emotional Screening Systems, or BESS.
