MSU grads walk the stage

The Friday ceremony was for Masters Degree candidates at D.L. Ligon Coliseum. Saturday’s ceremony was for Bachelors’ Degree recipients at Kay Yeager Coliseum. COVID-19 health and safety protocols were in place for both ceremonies with face masks required and social distancing. The events were ticketed only with each graduate allowed five tickets for guests. After crossing the stage, graduates at both ceremonies were given the option of leaving the area or returning to their seats with their fellow graduates.    Last year, the 2020 MSU Texas Spring graduation ceremony was held virtually due to COVID-19. During the academic year for 2020-2021, MSU students and staff adapted to the COVID-19 situation with virtual classes and decreased sizes of in-person classes. Students and staff were required to wear face masks and maintain social distancing while on campus.

Respiratory Care grads have drive-thru pinning ceremony

Respiratory Care grads have drive-thru pinning ceremony Chalk up one more thing that the pandemic has changed. Midwestern State University students earning their Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care normally have an official pinning ceremony upon completion of their studies. Typically we have a ceremony, it s very formal, we have cake and punch, some desserts and whatnot for them. However, with COVID, we re not able to do that so, we modified and had a drive-by pinning ceremony for them,  said Dr. Erica Judie, assistant professor. Friday afternoon, students pulled up to the curb outside Bridwell Hall where all their instructors were clapping and cheering them on. Most jumped out of the vehicle and posed for a quick photo while receiving their bag with their class pin and ceremonial cords in it. The cords are to be worn during full graduation on Saturday.
