FICAC prosecutions
THE United States Department of State claims some high profile Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) prosecutions could be viewed as politically motivated. In its 2020 Country Report on Human Rights Practices in Fiji, the US State Department said Fijian law provided criminal penalties for corruption by officials but Government did not implement the law effectively.

‘Raise the Flag’ is Autism Ontario’s campaign to raise awareness and acceptance in regards to the autism spectrum.
World Autism Awareness Day (WAAD) is April 2 in Canada, yet due to the holiday long-weekend and the pandemic, Community Living-Central Huron raised the Autism Ontario flag on April 6.

Mayor John Grace read the proclamation and was a part of raising the flag to recognize World Autism Day.
“It is important to raise awareness year after year because ongoing education about Autism and all disabilities is as necessary as it is to be aware about healthcare,” Lisa Kriven, Regional Coordinator, West Region Respite Network explained.
For the third week in a row, Buena Vista schools reported no cases in superintendent Lisa Yatesâs Monday update.
In other district news, Yates shared that, while students took time off during spring break, school resource officer Megan DiGirolamo had a busy week.
The Buena Vista Police Department, with the help of the school district, hosted a Crisis Intervention Team training for local law enforcement.
âCIT helps officers recognize people struggling with mental health issues or in mental crisis, and aids in getting these individuals the proper help and resources. CIT-Youth is a 3-day training focusing on adolescent development and behavioral health concerns specific to young people,â Yates said. âA cornerstone of CIT-Youth training is the extensive use of highly realistic and emotionally intense role play scenarios using professional actors to portray people in crisis. Experts call for enhanced public awareness on World Autism Day
ISLAMABAD:
World Autism Day was observed all over the world on April 2 (Friday). To mark the occasion in Pakistan, seminars and awareness were arranged.
According to the Pakistan Autism Society, about 400,000 children are suffering from autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in Pakistan. Psychiatrists stressed the need for increasing public awareness about autism and highlighted the plight of families in which children were afflicted by the malady.
They said there was a need to promote community acceptance of children with this debilitating illness and early treatment could improve functional outcomes for such children.
