Most schools will go to remote learning for students Friday to facilitate three large events where an estimated 2,900 school employees will be vaccinated.
A Monroe Public Schools construction trades instructor recently has been named to a local homebuilding board.
Tom Bell, who launched the renowned Trojan Build projects for Monroe High School students, was appointed to the Home Builders Association of Monroe Board of Directors.
He s the only construction trades teacher to have been named to an HBA board in the State of Michigan, with the appointment expected to lead toward increased collaboration and opportunities with young people, according to HBA President David Swartout.
“The HBA has been very involved in Monroe High School’s construction trades program,” Swartout said. “Inviting Tom to be part of the board was a natural next step. Tom will be an integral part of HBA going forward.

One more coronavirus death in Wood County
There have been 7,644 confirmed and probable coronavirus cases in Wood County, according to a Wednesday health department update.
This is an increase of 77 since Tuesday.
There have been 143 deaths, which which is an increase of one since Tuesday.
There are 347 active cases, a decrease of 19.
There have been 427 hospitalizations since March. The age range is 1-103 and the median age is 39. There are 3,680 males and 3,964females.
Wood Countyâs state alert for coronavirus is âredâ or level 3.
Level 3 means that there is very high exposure and spread. People are encouraged to limit activities.
