Novato parents push to open more schools for in-person learning
Protesters frustrated with Zoom classrooms and distance learning want schools to reopen in Novato.
NOVATO, Calif. - More than 100 people protested in Novato Tuesday evening, demanding an accelerated plan to get their children back into school. No more Zoom, no more Zoom, they chanted, outside school board headquarters before trustees held their meeting.
Families say they re at a tipping point with distance learning. We all really want our kids back full-time in-person and not just hybrid, said protest organizer Katie Stafford. A lot of us have one foot out the door, leaning toward private schools, added Stafford. Novato has already lost more than 400 kids and they stand to lose hundreds more if they don t have a definitive plan.

We have two vaccines : Bay Area hospitals on standby for 1st Moderna COVID-19 vaccine shipments
KGO
SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) New hope as the Moderna vaccine, the latest authorized for use by the FDA is now headed across the country for distribution. Bay Area hospitals and counties are getting ready for the new vaccine shipments.
Distribution of Moderna s COVID-19 vaccine began early Sunday morning, just two days after receiving emergency authorization by the FDA. Pharmaceutical distributor McKesson is preparing the vaccine for shipment, packing it in freezers and loading it onto trucks under the eyes of law enforcement. This vaccine is 95% effective, as much as 100% effective at preventing severe disease. This is the way we end the pandemic by getting 70 or 80% of Americans vaccinated, said Admiral Brett Giroir from the White House Coronavirus Task Force.
Since the coronavirus started spreading across the globe in late 2019, scientists have been looking for a vaccine. Now that vaccines are proven, it will ultimately be up to each state to determine who will get the vaccine, and when? In some ways, these sort of little adjustments are expected it s such a large operation with so many moving parts, said Willis.
Marin was not the only county whose plan was revised according to Willis; though he didn t know which other Bay Area counties were impacted.
ABC7 News has reached out to other counties to see if they have a delay and will add to this report as we hear back from them.
