Karnataka receives 2 lakh doses of Covishied vaccine ANI | Updated: May 19, 2021 11:48 IST Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], May 19 (ANI): Karnataka received 2 lakh doses of Covishied vaccine on Wednesday as part of the order placed by the state government, Health, and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar informed. The state has so far received 10,94,000 doses;- 9,50,000 Covishield and 1,44,000 Covaxin, as part of direct procurement from manufacturers. It has also received an additional 1,11,24,470 doses from the Government of India, Sudhakar said. Karnataka has been witnessing a surge in COVID-19 cases and deaths. The state is one of the worst affected states by the coronavirus pandemic. It reported 30,309 new COVID-19 cases and 525 deaths on Tuesday.

Black fungus is a post-covid complication. Those who have uncontrolled diabetes and use high dosage of steroids are vulnerable to this. Those who undergo organ transplantation and have immunocompromised conditions like HIV are also likely to contract this. Such category of people should be more cautious, the Minister warned while addressing a press conference here.

Bengaluru: Govt exploring procurement of drugs for Black Fungus, other diseases   Mon, May 17 2021 10:24:27 PM From Our Special Correspondent Daijiworld Media Network Bengaluru, May 17: Deputy chief minister and head of state’s Covid Task Force Dr C N Ashwath Narayan called on ‘Global Innovation Alliance Partner Countries’ to partner with the state in exploring possibilities of procurement of drugs, specifically like Amphotericin B that is critical for treating Black Fungus infection, Remdesivir and Tocilizumab, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar announced the constitution of an experts panel to find out the exact cause of the black fungus disease. Presiding over a virtual interaction convened by the Department of IT/BT and S&T on Covid-19 with Global Innovation Alliance Partner countries on Monday, Dr Narayan said the need of the hour was to explore possibilities of collaboration in the procurement of drugs that are needed for critical treatments.

Karnataka: Pvt medical colleges to reserve over 6,000 beds for Covid-19 treatment

May 07, 2021 × Final year MBBS and nursing students are to be provided with special allowance and credits for serving in Covid related duties. After holding talks with private medical colleges in Bengaluru, the Karnataka government has got 6,034 beds to be reserved for Covid-19 treatment. Speaking to reporters after the meeting with private medical colleges management, which was attended by state Home Minister B S Bommai and Revenue Minister R Ashoka, Karnataka Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar said private medical colleges are to give 6,034 beds and additional 1,135 more beds are to be made available later. The Minister said except in mother and child and non-covid emergency hospitals, all other teaching hospitals have reserved 75 per cent of beds for Covid-19 treatment.
