MACON, Ga. A pedestrian was hit and killed by a car on Mercer University Drive Thursday evening.
According to the Bibb County Sheriff s Office, at around 9 p.m., they got a call about a person hit and killed at the intersection of Mercer University Drive near Wellworth Avenue.

UPDATE (5/21) – The sheriff’s office identified the victim as 64-year-old Hilton Lucas.
UPDATE (11:15 p.m.) – A man is dead after being struck in a hit and run and then run over by a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy vehicle Thursday night.
That’s according to a Bibb County Sheriff’s Office news release.
A 911 call around 9 o’clock reported a person down in the 3000 block of Mercer University Drive.
“It was reported that the pedestrian had been fatally struck by a hit and run before deputies arrived,” the release said.
“It was also reported that a deputy accidentally struck the pedestrian while they were looking for them during the incident.”

Macon teen arrested after trying to rob convenience store with toy gun

MACON, Ga. Bibb deputies arrested a teen suspected in an armed robbery at the Mercer Food Mart located at 3737 Mercer University Drive Tuesday night.
According to a news release from the Bibb County Sheriff s Office, 17-year-old Javon Tyrek Blackshear was in the store trying to play a gambling machine. When a store employee asked him for identification, Blackshear pulled out a gun and demanded cash from the register. The employee then locked himself behind a Plexiglas counter, and Blackshear ran away without the money.

MACON, Ga. A teen is now charged with murder after a fatal west Macon shooting that happened earlier this month.
A news release from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says deputies arrested 17-year-old Robert James Ottman Jr. after a tip was called in. They found him at a boarding house on Ponce De Leon Avenue at around 1 a.m. Tuesday.
Ottman was wanted in the April 2 homicide of 24-year-old Kenneth Wendell Snead.
