Ministry aims to increase capacity of healthcare facilities

PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry is pumping in resources to bolster healthcare capacity in the Klang Valley, said Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba. This comes as the capacity in healthcare facilities – including the Malaysian Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) Covid-19 Low-Risk Quarantine and Treatment centre – reached their limits. The Health Minister noted that the number of patients referred to MAEPS had greatly increased with the centre now receiving 800 new patients daily on average and 200 Category 4 patients on average. “Out of 5,198 beds in MAEPS, the 154 beds allocated for Category 4 patients have exceeded maximum capacity. “The remaining beds for Category 1, 2 and 3 patients are also nearing the limit,” he said as he announced a slew of measures that the Health Ministry is taking to address the dire situation.

JOHOR BARU (Bernama): Tunku Mahkota Johor (TMJ) Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim has ordered the setting up of temporary accommodation for the homeless here to curb the spread of the Covid-19 infection among the group. Tunku Ismail said, via a Facebook post on Tuesday (July 6), homeless people are among the most vulnerable groups and exposed to the Covid-19 virus as they are forced to live on the street. He said the risk of infection could be reduced if the homeless are housed in temporary accommodation, adding that this would also facilitate the vaccination process for the group. TMJ said full support could also be provided so that they can return to normal life.
