Through a joint statement, the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPKM), Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA), and Malaysia Retail Chain Associations (MRCA) said the first HIDE list which was published yesterday published incomplete information and didn’t provide an accurate picture of the real-life situation.

The statement pointed out that HIDE does not include premises and operations that did not adhere to proper SOPs including the implementation of MySejahtera check-in. Hence, they would not appear as a hotspot in the system even though they could be one in real life.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 8 Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) has been urged to immediately suspend announcing any more information derived from the Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system until clear, accurate and precise basis are accompanied with the information to be released.
The call was made by three associations representing the shopping mall and retail industries nationwide in a joint statement today, namely Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (Persatuan Pengurusan Kompleks Malaysia) (PPK), Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA) and Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA).

Shopping mall and retail industry associations say the three-day closure directive for all premises identified by the Covid-19 Hotspot Identification for Dynamic Engagement (Hide) system was not only premature but would cause “irreversible damage” to business recovery.
The Malaysia Shopping Malls Association (PPK), the Malaysia Retailers Association (MRA), the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) and the Bumiputra Retailers Organisation (BRO) released a joint statement today urging for the closure to be put off.

KUALA LUMPUR (May 8): Shopping mall operators and retailers across Malaysia told the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) today to immediately suspend announcements of information derived from the Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system on claims that HIDE s Covid-19 hotspot listing data is inaccurate.
The Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, Malaysia Retailers Association and Malaysia Retail Chain Association had in a joint statement today urged MOSTI to immediately suspend the HIDE information announcement until the information to be released is accompanied by a clear, accurate and precise basis. Merely listing premises in isolation of supporting information is baseless and is not useful in curbing the spread of the disease.
PETALING JAYA: Shopping malls and retailers are claiming that the information from the Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) system is inaccurate and premature , and are urging the government to suspend further announcements.
The call came from four associations, namely the Malaysia Shopping Malls Association, Malaysia Retailers Association, Malaysia Retail Chain Association and the Bumiputra Retailers Organisation. We urgently urge the Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry to immediately suspend announcements from the HIDE system until there is clear, accurate and precise basis for the information to be released, read a joint statement on Saturday (May 8).
Describing the information from the system as inaccurate, the associations said the list had caused uncertainty, panic and fear.
