WASHINGTON On Wednesday, South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds questioned Denis McDonough, Secretary of Veterans Affairs nominee, about the future of Hot Springs’ V.A. facility.
Rounds asked, “The Hot Springs VA facility in Hot Springs, South Dakota, is a critical part of the department’s Black Hills Health Care System…I’d like your commitment, if confirmed, to work on moving the Hot Springs facility and literally the Black Hills facilities themselves into this century with regard to the services that they’re providing, and to lay out a long-term plan for their success for veterans in the rural areas.”
VA Black Hills to begin COVID-19 vaccinations

FORT MEADE, S.D. VA Black Hills Health Care System will begin COVID-19 vaccinations on Monday December 28, 2020 using the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Emergency Use Authorization for the product.
“VA Black Hills is excited to offer the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine to our health care personnel and Community Living Center Veterans,” said Teresa Forbes, Public Affairs Officer, “Receiving the vaccine is like having hope delivered. As vaccine supplies increase, our ultimate goal is to offer COVID-19 vaccination to all Veterans and employees who want to be vaccinated.”
