Starting Thursday, the site will officially become a state-run mass vaccination site, and will therefore be capable of inoculating more Marylanders every day. Montgomery County COVID-19 Statistics for April 6 The Maryland Department of Health reported 72 new COVID-19 cases in Montgomery County Tuesday morning. The county’s cumulative case count is 67,375. As of April 5, the county reported that 109 people were hospitalized with COVID-19. Montgomery County recorded three new coronavirus-related fatalities Tuesday, bringing the death toll in the county to 1,438. The county has a rolling seven-day average of 3.24% for positive COVID-19 tests, which is a decrease of 0.16 from Monday’s average rate of 3.4%. The county’s positivity rate is lower than in 21 of Maryland’s 24 jurisdictions. According to Montgomery County health officials, 20.3% of the county’s residents are fully vaccinated for COVID-19; 36% have received their first dose of either the Pfizer or Moderna two-dose vaccine.
