CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The lawn of the historic Montgomery County Courthouse in downtown Clarksville was filled Saturday as close to 150 people turned out for the annual reading of the Declaration of Independence.
The event this year was hosted by two local historical organizations, the Capt. Willian Edmiston Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, DAR, and the Valentine Sevier Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, SAR. NORRISTOWN â A Philadelphia man is headed to state prison after engaging in online conversations with an undercover agent posing as a 14-year-old girl and traveling to a Lower Providence location to try to have sex with who he believed was the minor.
Shamsullah Basirat, 41, of the 4000 block of Lawndale Street, was sentenced in Montgomery County Court to three- to-seven-years in a state correctional facility after he pleaded guilty to charges of unlawful contact with a minor, criminal attempt to commit involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a person less than 16 and criminal attempt to commit statutory sexual assault in connection with incidents that occurred between January and March 2020.
