Yam is accused of illegally taking the child care benefits by filing false applications between September 2015 and March 2020, officials said. In all, she is accused of taking $65,139 that she wasn’t entitled to, officials said. Yam was arraigned and released to return to court later.

Drug takeback scheduled for Bucks, Montgomery counties this month

Bucks and Montgomery County residents will have several locations to get rid of unused medications this month. Police departments in both counties will be participating in the twice annual National Prescription Drug Takeback Day, a national event by the Drug Enforcement Administration,  from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, April 24. Some departments will be hosting their events at their departments, while others will be hosting events at other locations in their areas. More than 40 departments between both counties will be hosting drug takeback events. Prescription and over-the-counter tablets and capsules, inhalers, creams, ointments, nasal sprays, pet medicines and vaping products will be accepted, according to a news release from the Montgomery County District Attorney s Office.

NORRISTOWN — A Philadelphia man wanted for his alleged role in the Christmas Day 2012 gunshot slaying of a Norristown man was apprehended in the borough on Thursday after a pursuit during which he is accused of trying to strike a detective with a vehicle. Rasheed Abdul Farrelle, 36, of the 4700 block of Penn Street, was arraigned via video before District Court Judge Scott Palladino on charges of first- and third-degree murder, conspiracy and person not to possess a firearm in connection with the alleged Dec. 25, 2012, fatal shooting of Paul Brown. Prosecutors said Farrelle also was charged with aggravated and simple assault and recklessly endangering another person in connection with his alleged assault of a detective during Thursday’s pursuit.
